This Mother's Day this year is Sunday, May Eighth. Did you remember that? I would bet that most people didn't. I know I nearly forgot! So, now that we know it's Mother's Day, we do something. Something nice for our Moms . . .right?
Generally on Mother's Day, Moms love to know that you care about them. A great way to show them this in the morning is letting them sleep in! When your Mom is busy (sleeping in), you can make her breakfast (But not beyond your limits. I'm pretty sure a hospital visit on Mother's Day is right up there with a hospital trip on, well, any day!). Make sure you have her coffee ready first thing, so that either the "pleasant smells" wake her up, or so you can give it to her right away when she wakes up of her own accord (make sure it's the way she likes it–usually warm, but you can ask her earlier, or ask your Dad).
Another thing Moms usually appreciate (which helps them know you care) is a homemade card. Because, face it, a store-bought card shows you didn't even care enough to get a little dirty and make one yourself. Only you know the inside jokes between you and your Mom, what makes her laugh and cry, and what means something to her. No card maker can create a card to match that.
You could also buy a plant, or even better, grow one in your Mom's honor. If you started now, you would most likely have a seedling by Mother's Day. I love watching the miracle of life, and how such a beautiful, delicate living thing comes from such a hard shell. It may even remind your Mom of you!
So, this year, remember Mother's Day and what it means to your Mom that you care–but don't forget your limits! That hospital trip is most likely not welcomed.
