People can't know everything about our dogs. The thing people don't see is the personality, which is the most important thing a person should know.
People can't know everything about our dogs. The thing people don't see is the personality, which is the most important thing a person should know. The books say this, the books say that, but do the books know your dog? No. You know your dog, and, in my strong opinion, it is an owner job to find out what their dog is like. It is important to know, or the result, could be an out-of-control dog you know NOTHING about!
So, the first thing you would do is see what your dog likes. Then what your dog hates. Spend time with your dog, understand if he/she wants to dominate, or submit. The other thing people are blinded by is the look. A beautiful, slim body. The shiny, sheen of the coat. But, the dog might not be for you. A book on dogs might say that Labs are loyal, loving, and love to swim. But, I know a few dogs that don't like water, and some, well, some just aren't as "loving" as you thought. Maybe, they like to nip and bite at your heels!
Every dog is different, you shouldn't count on the dog books, count on the ads, what the shelters say about them! The breed personalty might not match the dog you want.
