Every fall the one thing my family looks forward to is going to Miller Farms. This farm is not just any regular farm, it has activities, games, lunch, great vegetables and much more! One of the famous farms in the Denver area is called Miller Farms. Miller Farms is located in Platteville, CO, a short drive from Denver. It is a place where you can pick vegetables and have a nice family time together.
Miller Farms opens on Labor Day and is open from 9-6 daily through November. The farm started in 1949 and has been around for 3 generations! Miller Farms grows around 40 different crops and you can pick them all! The festival was started on a suggestion by a teacher that it would be a great way to teach people of all ages about produce- where it comes from and how it's grown. At Miller Farms, they have hay rides in which a tractor pulls wagons and goes around the farm for its visitors to pick vegetables. You get to stop at every vegetable for about 20 minutes and pick as much as you want! You go through about 180 acres of field where there are vegetables everywhere! But don't worry if you don't want to pick the vegetables on your own, there are plenty you can buy in their onsite store.
On the farm they give tours for all ages and even kids go on field trips there! They do activities, camps and other things on special occasions for kids. All that information can be found www.millerfarms.net. They also have petting zoos, corn mazes, giant jumping balloon, climbing on a fire truck, and slide down giant hills. Miller Farm also serves fresh lunch with fresh vegetables. Miller Farms is a great place to be if you need fresh vegetables with lots of fun activities for the kids. My family and I go every year and have a blast and know you will too!
