From waking up at sunrise early Saturday morning, to getting home at sundown late Sunday evening, The Major at the Broadmoor was an unforgettable event.

Everyone knows golf is an old people sport right? No! Last weekend I was able to attend Golf Weeks Jr. Tour, Major at the Broadmoor; a golf tournament for different age groups 10 through 19. I covered the 10-12 year age group, and had a great time.

The group consisted of Blake Taylor, Jackson Crist, Jackson Solen, Lium Short, and Hunter Tuite. All of these players had played together before but none were as good of friends as Jackson C. and Blake. A friendly rivalry showed when Jackson told me he really wanted to beat Taylor. Jackson took second in 5 previous tournaments.

Blake Taylor however was looking for another win to tack on to his career. After 8 wins this season he told me he wanted to keep it up. I asked him about luck, he said "Out on the golf course it's not luck, it's what you do to shoot your score" Blake ended day one in first with a score of 85 while Jackson trailed by 3 strokes.

The hospitality and beauty of the Broadmoor golf course was great and added to the experience. The views of Colorado Springs from the course were astounding.

At the beginning of day two, we were ushered on to the first tee box by a nice man named Arnold Butler. Greens were a terror on the first day. Putting was almost impossible. Jackson Solen said "I'm sorry you had to see the horror". On the second day however, the greens were under control as all five golfers finished up nicely. In the end, it was Blake taking another win with a two day total of 170, Jackson C. with a total of 177, and Jackson S. in third with 186.

The Major at the Broadmoor was unforgettable, beautiful, and just plain fun. This proves once and for all that golf is a game for all ages. For more info on the tournament go to http://rmjga.bluegolf.com/
