Have you ever thought that Christmas was a Bah Humbug? Recently, I had a chance to be in Arvada High School's performance, A Christmas Carol. It was a great experience for me, as well as many other students

.To begin with, I really enjoyed talking to the cast members and getting to know them. When we weren't on stage, we got ready for our cues, put on our makeup, and got our props ready, but we still had down time. While we weren't on stage, we just talked about things everybody says to their friends. I really got to know about a lot of people. The other people aren't just actors: they're cooks, artists, writers, and teachers. being in the crew made me feel like I had a second family there.

Being in the Christmas Carol was also fun because being on stage is a good experience to have. It makes you bolder, more dramatic, and more able to do improvisation, or keeping the conversation onstage going by adlibbing. It also helps with memorization skills because you can't just expect to learn all of your lines in one night.

Lastly, being in a play also helps you be able to express your feelings better. One of my characters was a beggar girl, and I really had to work hard at over- exaggerating my character's emotions: cold, sick, and sad. Another character was a narrator; I had no feelings for that character, but I had to say my lines with emotion to portray the character's feelings that I was talking about.

Overall, being in the play really helped me. I got a second family, got better acting skills, and I am now able to show feelings better.
