What If…

What if….

What if I was a hawk,
Would I gorge on slimy worms?
Would I roam the skies all day?
Or would I flap my wings and soar?

What if….

What if I was a hawk,
Would I gorge on slimy worms?
Would I roam the skies all day?
Or would I flap my wings and soar?

What if I was the river Thames,
Would I drown a helpless child?
Would I flood a lush green valley?
Or would I simply gurgle on awhile?

What if I was a rose,
Would my stem be thick and thorned?
Would my petals be scrawny and colorless?
Or would my perfume cling like Herse's dew in the morn?

What if I was a mountain,
Would my looming slopes crumble underfoot?
Would my critters devour the unsuspecting?
Or would my grasping tendrils simply stay put?

What if I was a cheetah,
Would I snarl at innocent passersby?
Would I tear apart a grazing antelope?
Or would I race across the savannah, faster than light?
What if I was a lake,
Would I make life become undone?
Would I swallow desperate memories?
Or would I ride the wind and subject to the sun?

What if I was a grizzly,
Would I charge a defenseless woman?
Would I maul a wandering child?
Or would I stay in the forest, where my life began?

What if I was God,
Would I still be me?
