With Closed Eyes She Waits…

With closed eyes she waits,
Waits for the whisper of grass to meet her ear,
For the laughing streams to trickle on by.
With closed eyes she waits,

With closed eyes she waits,
Waits for the whisper of grass to meet her ear,
For the laughing streams to trickle on by.
With closed eyes she waits,
Waits for the pull of the sun to reach her heart,
For the twinkle of stars to bring her home,
Home to the sky,
Home to the clouds,
Home to the hills, and trees, and freedom.
With closed eyes she waits,
Waits for the canter of horses to carry her away,
For the familiar silence to fill her ears.
She blinks and its gone.
The light races away and darkness closes in,
She is afraid.
The shadow has won.
She is alone.
The light has died out.
She is gone.
Hope has lost itself.
She is dead:
Her destiny is fulfilled.
