"Zombie Chasers: Sludgment Day" by John Kloepfer is a great book. Full of Zombies, action, and adventure, this 214 page novel is a real kid catcher! In it, Zach, a kid whose parents were turned into zombies, and his gang of Zombie chasers go after the genius who made BurgerDog, a fast food chain that makes burgers that taste like hot dogs and vice-versa. They travel all around the country toward his headquarters in Montana, and take a stop at the Mall of America, so they can stock up on equipment. There they find that the whole first floor of the mall is covered with Zombies. They head up to the second floor which has more useful stuff anyway. The girls in the group head off on their own and meet some human boys, Dustin and Frankie, who kidnap their little dog, Twinkles. They ask for the antidote in exchange for the dog’s safe return. Using good wits, the Zombie Chasers capture back the dog, but Dustin and Frankie unleash the zombies, and are bitten themselves. How will the Zombie Chasers escape from this mess?
Since there is some mild violence in this book, I would recommend it for children 8 and up. On a scale of one to ten, I would rate this book a nine point nine, just one point off because there are some hard to follow parts in this novel. There are other books in the series: "Zombie Chasers," which is book one, "Zombie Chasers: Undead Ahead," which is number 2, then this book is the third. I would highly recommend reading this book because I really enjoyed it.
