Seifer Tombchewer is a star skull-ball player and his father’s pride and joy, but he dreams of a life beyond the mountain village where he grew up. On a fateful night, the three Velvet Spies of the royal family kidnap Seifer and take him to the palace. It turns out that Seifer is an exact match of physical appearances for the missing Prince Talon Pandemonium. But pretending to be a prince isn’t easy, especially when the prince’s enemies are trying to kill you every time you turn around…
This is a really good book. It was funny and action-packed, with a little romance thrown in for good measure. The world it is set in is complete fantasy, yet it is easy to follow. My favorite characters would have to be the Velvet Spies, three tiny creatures dressed in robes and helmets. They are witty and very enthusiastic about hitting people on the head. The art in “Pandemonium” is slightly cartoon like, but it works perfectly with the story. The characters are all very lifelike, enhanced by the drawings.
I hope this is book is followed by another soon, because there is a cliff hanger at the end which left me on the edge of my seat… And will leave you on the edge of yours!
