Does fantasy intrigue you? Do you crave adventure? If so, Ship of Souls by Zetta Elliot would be the perfect book for you to read. This book includes friendship, jealousy, the undead, and magical life.
D, the main character, is a math freak whose mother perishes of breast cancer. He is then put in a foster home and adopted by elderly Mrs. Martin. Next comes Mercy, a needy baby who takes all of Mrs. Martin’s free time. Mrs. Martin never pays attention to poor D anymore. At school, he makes friends with Hakeem, a Muslim who is addicted to basketball, and Nyla, a charming, strong, military girl. Together, they embark on a journey led by Nuru, a mystical orb who takes D as a host. Undead souls are waiting for Nuru to lead them to rest. Some of these souls are evil, and they are called nether beings. With the help of Nuru, the three lead the souls to rest while battling nether beings.
I recommend this book to everyone who likes adventure and the undead. This book was a bit frightening, and it had a fair amount of cuss words. I would recommend this book to everyone twelve years old and older. Ship of Souls has 120 pages, and it is easy to read in about a week. You can get this book at your local library. I hope you enjoy it!
