Most teenage boys dream of becoming a spy, but when fourteen-year-old Alex Rider is forced to work for England’s intelligence agency, MI6, Alex realizes that being a spy isn’t what it’s cut out to be. Due to his parent’s tragic deaths, Alex has lived with his Uncle Ian for as long as he can remember. Before Alex knows it, though, Uncle Ian had passed away in a “car accident” and now Military Intelligence Six is recruiting him to be a spy. Alex’s guardian had never been the banker Alex thought he was; he had been one of London’s top secret agents! The thrilling nine-book-series by Anthony Horowitz is full of excitement, murder, gangs, and mentally insane criminals. I highly recommend this series for action-lovers ages ten to fifteen. Even though throughout the whole series, Alex is fighting to be an ordinary kid, he is still forced to give up one year of his life to save the world from eco-terrorists to multi-billionaires. Describing the teenager’s experiences fighting crime in every corner of the world, Alex Rider books are almost impossible to put down.
