Helen Hamilton has a job. A mission really. But it's one that can only be completed when she's asleep.
Helen Hamilton has a job. A mission really. But it's one that can only be completed when she's asleep. Helen must locate the Furies, three sisters that have hunted the Delos family for hundreds of years. In Dreamless, by Josephine Angelini, Helen must journey deep into the Underworld, putting herself in terrible danger, to complete this supposedly impossible task. The stress is incomparable, and the long and deadly treks Helen must take each night make functioning properly during the day progressively harder.
As Helen puts herself into increasingly dangerous situations, the pressure of the seemingly impossible mission slowly takes its toll. Friends, family, and teachers alike are worried about Helen’s health, and as time passes, so is Helen. Every night that she visits the underworld, she is losing a chance to dream, and dreaming is essential to Helen’s health. Unable to dream properly, Helen’s grasp on the world gradually slips. She is dying. Will Helen be able to stop the Furies once and for all, and survive the ordeal? Read Dreamless, by Josephine Angelini, to find out.
I would recommend this book to kids 11 and up, because it is confusing at some parts, and there is some brief minor language.
