This book,Personal Effects, is about a teenager named Matt Foster. Matt has an older brother, TJ,who is in the army. When TJ leaves and doesn't come back, he's gone forever. When the army gives back his stuff, Matt feels the need to look through it. Though, it's not an easy task, especially with his strong, smart, and hard-to-fool dad looking over him all the time. Matt finally gets into the stuff, and finds out that TJ had secrets that he didn't know of. Now, Matt needs to figure out the answers to his questions about the TJ he never knew about. Of course, he has his best friend to help with things he doesn't understand. To  find out what turns out you need to read it.
I would extremely recommend this for 14 -18 years old. This book has scenes and language inappropriate for kids ages 8-13. Other  than that, this is a great novel written by E.M. Kokie.
