Picture Yourself HERE, written by Kristi Thom and published by American Girl, is a good rainy day activity book, sleepover craft, or even a road trip boredom buster for young girls! All you need are lots photos of you and your friends, craft scissors, plus a glue stick.
The book is designed to help you create a memory scrapbook and has only 26 pages. It comes with punch outs of things you might see in each scene like a park, a pool, and a forest. The spiral binding is handy because you can keep it open for long durations of time without the pages closing, and that your pages can't get stuck together. Throughout the book, there are photography and artistic ideas. The book encourages young girls to use their imagination.
Overall, I think that the price, $12.99 per book, is a bit high. It should be $10 or less because it is a single use book. At first when I saw the book was available, I was excited because I enjoy American Girl books and crafts. It was a little disappointing. If I were to redesign this book, I would provide stickers instead of punch-out paper to make it easier to use. I can recommend this book to girls ages seven to nine. As an eleven year old, I would have liked to see this activity on the American Girl website either as a game or as a printout activity instead of a thirteen-dollar book.
