The book, The Genius Files: You Only Die Twice by Dan Gutman, continues the McDonald family's trip to Washington D.C. from California and back. The protagonists in this thriller are the McDonald twins that are named Coke and Pepsi. They are children geniuses that were recruited to be in a special program called the Genius Files. The Genius Files was created by a doctor named Herman Warsaw and its purpose was to improve America by uniting the brightest kids in the U.S. so our country does not fall apart completely because it is run by ignorant adults. Coke and Pepsi's adventures began is the first book of the series, The Genius Files: Mission Unstoppable, when they realized that Dr. Herman Warsaw was trying to kill all of the children in the Genius Files program. The twins were assaulted by Warsaw many times along their journey to Washington D.C.. When the second book(The Genius Files: Never Say Genius) began, the McDonald twins were still trying to be assassinated but in this story, a Dr. Warsaw wannabe named Archie Clone was chasing them. The third book began in Washington D.C. at the twins' Aunt Judy's wedding. Throughout the story, the children were being chased by an imposter of Elvis Presley that the kids call Evil Elvis. Evil Elvis continues to try to send the twins to their deathbed as they travel back to their home in California. Before the story ends, the children have suffered many strange attempts to be killed such as having their legs be eaten away by the phosphoric acid in Pepsi, having a giant chest of doors fall onto their head, and by being thrown in a shredder in order to be recycled into a plastic lawn chair or playground equipment for preschool children. The Genius Files: You Only Die Twice is a delightful story that children of all ages would enjoy and understand. There is entertaining pieces of this story for everyone no matter your gender or age. This book is also very educational because everywhere that the McDonalds visit is a real destination and the book offers a inscriptions of where Coke and Pepsi are headings so you are able to track their trip.
