Dinosaur National Monument, which straddles the Utah-Colorado border, is a monument with real dinosaur bones. On the Utah side, the dinosaur bones discovered so far are displayed. On the Colorado side, there are breathtaking canyon views. Both are equally amazing.

The Green and Yampa Rivers flow through the monument and provide some of those spectacular views. Also, the rivers carried dinosaur bones through the monument to be discovered just about anywhere. The Grand Canyon isn’t the ONLY place to go white river rafting. Both the Green and Yampa provide great rafting.

One of the closest cities to the monument is Vernal, Utah, which calls itself the “Dinosaur Capital of the World.” Everywhere you look in Vernal, you will see a dinosaur. Some, like the famous pink dinosaur, hold signs. The pink dinosaur welcomes you to Vernal. There is a dinosaur with a bikini by a hotel that says, “Let’s swim.” There are many, and they are all interesting.

This monument is unique in many ways, but there is more to it than the dinosaur bones. Keep that in mind if you go.
