Elemental, by Antony John is a fast paced action movie pounding through your head. In a land rotted out by plague, the survivors take to an island; there they live with individual elements.
Except for Thomas. As an outsider, the inhabitants keep their distance for there is no reason to lose your greatest power to one who has no element.
When pirates capture the majority of the island occupants it is up to Thomas and his friends to stay hidden, to stay alive, and most of all, to try and rescue their families and leaders.
Secrets overwhelm the bond of trust they have, threatening to break them apart. Discoveries are unearthed that bring upon a whole new perspective and instinct is how they must rely to survive. How much can they afford to lose and how much will they gain along the way??
When I picked up this novel, I thought it had a confusing beginning because it jumped right in and gave the background of the plot throughout; eventually everything fits together and makes sense. There was no concerning language but I would recommend that eleven year olds and up take this book. In addition, I balanced the discombobulated beginning and the superb ending and decided to rate this book with three stars.
Do you dare to dart into this novel of pirates, elements, and finding who you truly are??? Then decide whether or not this book sounds like the right choice for you.
