Guinness’ latest record book, Guinness World Records 2013- Gamer’s Edition, will have you trying to set a gaming record yourself. Basically, this book is a collection of impressive- make that mind boggling- video game world records from around the globe. Ranging from Pac Man, Halo, Angry Birds, Zelda, and everything in between, there is an inspiring record for every video gamer.

But do records like who beat the most levels in the shortest time bore you? Not all of the records are like that! For example, Brett Martin has been collecting video game memorabilia (primarily Super Mario collectibles) since 1989, and so far has collected a record of just over 8,000 items, some of them extremely rare. One thing I found especially cool about this record is that Brett Martin lives in Littleton.

I would recommend this book especially to extreme gamers, but even if you aren’t Mike Teavee I think you will find this book interesting. The records make a lot more sense if you know how easy or difficult the game is, though. Since none of the pictures are inappropriate or gory, anyone can read this book.
