Amelia Bedelia Means Business

Amelia Bedelia Means Business

Amelia Bedelia is back, but with a different author, Herman Parish. I think Amelia Bedelia Means Business, by Herman Parish, is a book most suited for kids aged 6-8. I felt some of the humor was too silly for me to really enjoy, but think my 7 year old brother would have really enjoyed it.

The story begins when Amelia Bedelia wants a new bike but doesn't have enough money to buy it. Her parents agree to pay for half of it if Amelia can pay for the rest. Determined to earn money, she sets off trying to find a new job and tries selling lemonade, selling her moms lemon cookies, and other jobs, all of which turn out to be a big disaster. Amelia Bedelia is determined to get her bike, but can she?

I would give Herman Parish's book, Amelia Bedelia Means Business, 2 stars out of 5 because I felt the Amelia in this book was a different Amelia than the original. She doesn't often take directions too literally, like in the original series by Peggy Parish, but is just plain silly. It took me a long time to get through the book because I was extremely bored at many parts. I think part of the reason I didn't really enjoy this book is because the humor was a little young for my taste, and feel it was written more for 6-8 year olds.
