Ever thought it is was possible that a perfect island is one day not so perfect when a secret branch of the United States Military, SYLO, overruns it. In the new novel called SYLO, which comes out in July, just that happens. It all starts at a football game when the tailbacker, Marty Wiggins, all of a sudden dies. Tucker [the main character] now has to play in his place. Then the day of the Lobster Pot Festival, SYLO comes and locks everyone in including the visitors out of the outside world. No one can get in no one can get out. Granger, the head officer of SYLO tells Pemberwick Island that SYLO is here to make sure a plague that is in Pemberwick does not spread to the outer world. To make it worse a man named Feit is trying to sell a dangerous drug called the Ruby. SYLO is making Tucker question everything he has ever known. Is SYLO bad or are the really what they say they are. Find out in SYLO.
SYLO is a violent dystopian book with a touch of romance. It is the first in a “end of the world” trilogy. This is NOT a little kid’s book. It will give kids nightmares because there is a lot of shooting and killing. I would recommend it for ages 12 and up. There is some drug taking that will give younger kids the wrong idea. Mild cussing is used by the teens in this book. If you are a fan of The Maze Runner series this is the book for you. In all this is a wonderful book if it is read to the right age group.
