The magnificent colors, workmanship, and decoration of Nick Cave at the exhibit (which is at the Denver Art Museum) has such a feeling! It can be buttons on outfits, it can be horse like outfits, sewing materials, or even sculptures, dances, paintings ( in his image, paintings were materials sewn all together to look like paintings ) just so many! All of these outfits are called soundsuits. Some could weigh about 30lbs.
What he really does is he brings back the culture, the history back from the past. He goes to thrift shops to see what catches his eye to put into a sculpture or outfit. When he makes the sculpture, he knows where everything is supposed to go. And what he puts in a sculpture is endless! It could be birds, people, crystals, ( for frost ) dogs, and even a monkey. No matter what, he has an endless imagination.
The idea came to him when he was making a sculpture made up of sticks and twigs. Then, it turned out to be an outfit! So then he made outfits for dancers, but not all outfits got to be worn. Some were made to be displayed. But in all, he brought back life in art.
