Bark! Shake! Rumble! These voices aren’t ordinary, in fact, they belong to Stick Dog, and his four friends; Poo-Poo, Mutt, Stripes and Karen. They are competitive for stealing hot dogs. If you enjoy a delightful mystery, suspense and humor then you will love “Stick Dog Wants A Hot Dog”, by Tom Watson!
You may be wondering who Stick Dog is. In the beginning, the author mentions that he isn’t good at drawing, so, instead of stick figures, he draws stick dogs, and that’s where the name came from!
In the story, Stick dog and his friends love to steal food, specifically hot dogs (the author calls them frankfurters). So, as usual they have a plan to steal all the frankfurters, but it slowly falls apart as Karen (one of Stick Dog’s friends) is kidnapped and locked in a human’s house. On top of that, they find out that there is someone else who wants to steal the frankfurters. Stick Dog finds out and him and his friends quickly formulate a plan.
This is now a double mission!
Karen is eventually rescued, but Stick Dog finds out who is after the frankfurters! What will happen next? Is the kidnapping of Karen related to whoever is after the frankfurters? Read the book to find out!
But — beware! This is the second book in the Stick Dog series, but the only main difference is the fact that in the first book they stole hamburgers, and in this book they steal frankfurters.
This 220 page and 9 chapter mysterious book is good for ages 8 to 12. But, the 12 year olds may find it boring. This book is written in the form of a journal entry with some great illustrations — even though the author admits that he can’t draw!
