Does running in the rain really help you stay dry? Can you save your house from the Big Bad Wolf? Can you change as fast as a superhero?
Does running in the rain really help you stay dry? Can you save your house from the Big Bad Wolf? Can you change as fast as a superhero? Find this out, and more at Mythbusters: The Explosive Exhibition!
Mythbusters is a very popular TV show. As the name suggests, hosts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman bust myths. This show has been around since 2003, and is still going strong.
The new exhibit, at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, has just moved into town, and will be here until January. The exhibit’s purpose is to let regular people try experiments and use the scientific method, not to just see them on TV. The producers of this exhibit wanted guest to get their hands dirty.
Mythbusters has many fun experiments for everyone to try. Cliffhanger encourages people to hang from a ledge and test how long they can hold on without falling off. This comes from the Hollywood myth that cliffhanger scenes are staged. In another one, Killer Card Toss, you can throw cards to see if you can kill someone with a strategically placed card toss.
Of course, all this has to do with science, even though it may not seem like it. Even Tablecloth Chaos where guests try to whip a tablecloth from under a set table is scientific. This experiment has many things to do with the forces of mass (the items on the tablecloth that makes it heavier and harder to pull off), the forces of friction (the type of tablecloth that makes it stickier) that are against the forces of inertia (how fast and how hard the tablecloth is pulled).
This exhibit is recommended for everyone, even the littlest kids, because it has something for everyone. Even though the kids might not be tall enough to do Dodging a Bullet, where taller people can see if they are fast enough to actually dodge a bullet, kids will definitely love the Airplane on a Conveyer Belt, where folks can watch and see if a plane on a conveyer belt will take off.
I have been a Mythbusters fan for years, and this exhibit did not disappoint me in the least. I would positively rate it 5 stars out of 5 stars, and am definitely going back. I would recommend it to everyone, although anyone jumpy might be a little uncomfortable because there are a lot of loud noises and quick lights. Other than that, I would recommend it to everyone, especially little kids. And don’t be afraid to fail at things. As they say at Mythbusters, Failure Is Always An Option!
