In the Hunger Games series, Primrose Everdeen is the most loved character, much like Willow Shields the actress who plays her.

Although Prim and Willow live in totally different worlds, they are actually a lot alike! The fact that they both love animals, and are very sweet and genuine makes the role of Prim easily portray able for Willow.

Even though she isn’t in the games, the scenes aren’t scary, but they an still be heavy and emotional to watch. In Catching Fire, there is an intense scene where Katniss is attacked by Capital modified birds with that sing using Prim’s voice. During this Jabber Jay scene when Katniss is going crazy hearing Prim’s voice, Willow said it was fun doing a voice over and that the scream was the best part! Willow said that she is most proud of her role in Catching Fire because she feels she’s there for Katniss, letting her know that she will always be the best sister she can be.

Since Primrose is in all three movies, I thought the decision to dedicate to a role like this would be hard. But Willow said, “Not at all! In fact, this was that easiest decision to make. Even though it was a trilogy role, it was no big deal to say yes!” I thought it was very clever when she stated that for the next movie, Mocking Jay, she would read the book over and over to find the little details in the book that can be applied to the movie to make her role that much better!

Willow is not on set for the entire shooting of the film, but would be called in off and on, and sometimes would shoot for a month straight. Luckily, her home schooling works out great while filming. She loves school so much that if she wasn’t an actress, she would’ve been an art or drama teacher! Besides her passion for art, she loves reading; especially The Fault in Our Stars by John Green.

Like a lot of us, she spends most of her time with her twin sister and older brother. For Halloween she was sorry she didn’t dress up, but she spent the night making apple cider, pumpkin pie, and watching scary movies with her siblings. Thanksgiving day is the premiere of Catching Fire, so watch for her at the midnight showing!

Willow would like to encourage other kids who are interested in acting to keep auditioning. She said, "Sometimes you audition for 100 roles and don’t get any, and all of a sudden one comes through!"
