Nerd Girls: the Rise of the Dorkasaurus is a realistic fiction book by Alan Lawrence Sitomer. It is about three 8th grade girls; Maureen, Alice, and Barbara. Maureen is a “big-boned” girl that is in love with cupcakes and chocolate. “Allergy Alice” is allergic to so many things, it is hard to count all of them. Barbara, who Maureen nicknames “Beanpole,” is the clumsiest person in the entire school and gets injured multiple times on a daily basis.

One day, Maureen realizes that the ThreePees (the pretty, popular, perfect girls in the school) are going to do something to Alice that could hurt her badly. Maureen decides to stop the ThreePees, and this bonds Maureen, Alice, and Barbara together. They decide that they aren’t going to be made fun of anymore, so they enter the school talent show against the ThreePees to teach them a lesson.

Nerd Girls is a book suitable for girls all ages, because I enjoyed it and I feel that my 4th grade sister would too. It was an easy read for me, but not boring. This book was very well-written. I didn’t lose interest at all while reading this, and it made me want to keep reading. This book sells for around 5-15 dollars when I searched it on Google. I would rate this book 4 out of 5 stars because it kept me very intrigued throughout the entire novel.
