The book “The Never Girls a Dandelion Wish” by: Kiki Thorpe is a very exiting book. I would recommend it to 6-10 year old girls. This book is what I would call a “fairy” tale. It is about a girl, Mia, who goes through a lose fence board in her back yard that takes her to magical Never Land with fairies. The book starts out with the hook, “Mia Vasquez awoke Saturday morning with a fluttery feeling in her chest. ” That made me just want to read the book even more.
In the book, the dad fixes the fence board and Mia figures out that her little sister, Gabby, is stuck back behind the fence. On her expedition to Never Land to save her sister, she gets stuck in her neighbor’s backyard. This neighbor is a witch, but in this case she is just a grumpy old lady. Meanwhile, in Never Land, Gabby and Iridessa the light fairy are gathering fire flies to celebrate the foot bridge being fixed. I can’t tell the whole story or that would give the book away. I would give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
The other characters in this book are: Lainey and Kate, Mia’s best friends, and Tinker Bell and Rosetta, Mia’s fairy friends. Kiki Thorpe has written three other books in the Never Girls series called, “From the Mist,” “The Space Between,” and “In a Blink.” I did not need much background from those books when I saw that this book was the third book of the series. The Never Girls a Dandelion Wish is a combination of the stories of Peter Pan and Tinker Bell. So if you enjoy the Tinker bell movies you’d probably like this book because it has most of those fairies.
