Her dad was in the military, but then he flew back to the United States and became a truck driver. Hayley feels desperate to get help for her father who is slowly wasting away from alcohol. She also makes a new friend, Finnegan Ramos. At first she doesn't want to be involved with him, but after a few dates he wins her over. Will her dad eventually take it too far and decide to give his life up?

I thought The Impossible Knife of Memory was an excellent book. The way it was written, I felt like I was the main character. I loved that I got an early preview of the book. I loved the ending too and the entire book was just so fun to read. I highly recommend this book, but I have to warn anyone interested that this is a book for mature readers. So please, just be aware that the book has language and references that are inappropriate for kids under 12.
