A place that is full of chatting kids, humorous events and magical things isn’t a story you hear about everyday, is it? “Ellray Jakes is magic” the 6th book in the series written by Sally Warner and illustrated by Brian Biggs.
Ellray Jakes, the main character, is a third grader from Oak Glen Primary school in California. This is a very interesting and lively story to read and you will keep turning pages to the very end. The magic tricks definitely make the book Ellray Jakes a fun read because there are lots of magic tricks to read about, such as converting a dime into a quarter, and making flowers appear in an empty flower pot. you will read lots of magic tricks like converting a dime into quarter, and all of the sudden in an empty pot flowers appear. The author makes a humorous atmosphere from the beginning to the end like when Ellray and his family came back from the farmers market Ellray and his sister Alfie start talking, Alfie says, “All I get is fwee samples of fwoot.”
I think this is a great book for kids 6 and older, especially for boys. There is clever plotting and humorous narration. This 149 page and 20 chapter book also had lots of mysterious events. I liked this book a lot, especially compared to the 4th book of the Ellray Jakes series.
