One day Emmet Doyle is forced to move to South Florida. His dad is a field biologist who studies raptors (A.K.A. birds of prey). It is always difficult for Emmet to move ever since his mom died. He and his father have struggled moving from state to state but they manage to get by.
The South Florida Fish and Wildlife Service has found the fresh remains of a type of alligator that was supposedly extinct. It is approximately 15 feet long and appears to be a mix between an alligator and a grey owl. The Pred-o-Gator (as Emmet call it) has many other capabilities such as the ability to fly. The reader later finds out that an evil scientist named Dr. Catalyst has restored this ancient and bizarre species back to life in a lab.
Dr. Catalyst wants to save the Everglades but resorts to drastic measures. Emmet and his new friend Calvin must stop the new threat to the Everglades: Dr. Catalyst and his evil creations.
“Menace from the Deep” is part of a series called Killer Species by Michael P. Spradlin. It is an excellent book and is great to read. The wonderful book is over 220 pages and it is full of suspense.
With new ideas and fresh dangers coming every time you read, it keeps you glued to your seat for hours wanting more. This book is extremely intense and not recommended for children under 4th grade. I myself couldn’t resist counting the minutes for school to end so I could finish this amazing saga.
