Absolutely Almost by Lisa Graff is a great story about a boy who is “almost” there in life. The main character Albie is starting fifth grade at a new school and he is close to being cool like he wants to be but he is not quite there. When Albie finds out he has to transfer to a private school, he is very disappointed because he will be leaving his best friend Erlan. On the first day of his new school, Albie is very nervous, but lucky for him he meets some friends. Albie learns a lot about friendships and dealing with difficult situations throughout life. In the book, Albie goes through good and bad days and happy and sad days but in the end life is good for him even if he is an “almost.” I think everyone should read this book even though the age recommendation is 6-8. This book tells a very good lesson about kids and how they get through life. The book would be a great book to read with young kids or to read as a read aloud at school. I would give the book a five out of five star because the author really wrote a great story along with many life lessons weaved in the book. Absolutely Almost by Lisa Graff is a phenomenal book that everyone should read and enjoy.
