Today I met an interesting woman. Jenny Goebel is a person I will always remember. Jenny is an author who has written 2 picture books and 1 chapter book. She actually started her career as a newspaper carrier which she considers journalism. After she finished her early morning wake ups for newspaper throwing, she started engraving graves…..that is how she got her inspiration for her first chapter book Grave Images. Then, she started her next career teaching ABC’s to little kids as a teacher. Finally, brushing of the ABC’s she started writing stories for kids.
Her first chapter book that she wrote was Grave Images. To give you a heads up it is a scary, mystery book. The most recent book she had written and published Foreman Farley has a Backhoe….it is a picture book. It just came out. Her newest book that she is working on is a same scary mystery but it is mystical fantasy. For example in the book it says when you step in a crack you break your moms back…so you might not want to do that. Jenny Goebel likes to write stories that are different like impossible things to do in real life. She gets her inspiration in her family like Grave Images, she got her inspiration from her husband he was an engraver.
Some things she said as a writer is that takes a long process to edit your writing and publish it. Plus you definitely need patience to sit down and think or write. The rule that she goes by is B.I.S butt in chair. THe things she said that you need in a story are scenes, chapters, characters, words, sentences, and paragraphs. You need all those things to complete a story.
Jenny says the most important key thing is to revise revise and even more revising. Jenny Goebel is an interesting, fun, and different author.
