In making a cartoon it will be mostly symbols more than you will use words. Symbols help to explain what words cannot. They make what you look at more interesting and it can mean more than one thing put together. With cartoons you can use cliche with a twist. With all that you do you can make multiple or different points to what you are doing in your cartoon. With some of the political cartoon that are out there are not all that funny, but they can’t all be funny at times you need to be creative and come up with different things and not all of them will or can be funny. You need to come up with something new every day and be able to do it well.

Mike Keefe is the person who does the political cartoons for the Denver Post. He says that it usually takes him about 30 minutes everyday to draw the cartoon. With some of the things that he works with will get turned down and he will get denied on him drawings. He does cartooning five days out of the week and only does one each day. With political cartoons he has to know what is going on in the economy in order to make the cartoons. He said that many cartoonist will over react in what they draw. Such as the that is called “ Student Funds .” Which dramatically explains how long or hard it is to pay off your student loan from college.
