Wild Grapes is about a gang with 4 young kids named Squid, Finch, Swags, and Wags. They have a superstitious summer in Riverton, Ohio chasing something they don’t even know is real. They find clues and start investigating at the place the weird events started, the Indian Mounds! They find many clues but are they making something out of nothing?
Wild Grapes by Will Zink is a boing 369 pages because I couldn’t relate to the book. I live in the suburbs not rural where Squid lives, and I couldn’t appreciate the book because the author needs to work on explaining the rural ways and lifestyle of his characters to the reader so the reader isn’t lost.
The character’s names are weird but who couldn’t like Squid, Finch, Swags, and Wags as names? I really liked the creativity in everything and I would give the theme, the personality of the characters, and the characters names a 4 out of 5 stars.
Even though this book didn’t grab my attention as I thought it would by reading the summary on the back, Will Zink explained the characters thoughts very well and I was almost never not knowing what was happening. Overall, I am going to give this book a 2 out of 5 stars. The 2 stars is for the creativity in everything and writing great dialogue. The other 3 stars that I’m not giving this book is because of the lack of excitement in the different events and not explaining to urban and suburban people the ways of the rural.
