Imagine waking up in a dark box, with no knowledge at all, not even your name.
Imagine waking up in a dark box, with no knowledge at all, not even your name. That’s what happened to Thomas, the main character, in the movie based on the bestselling book, the Maze Runner.
The box is an elevator. Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) finally reaches the top to find roughly 20 kids staring down at him in the blinding light of the sun. He discovers that he is in a huge enclosed space, kind of like a village, but outside there is a huge maze, with walls 100 feet high, and it might be their way out of the “glade” and into the outside world. Everyday, people called “runners” go out into the maze to explore, and map it. One of the runners is stung by a monster that roams the maze called a griever. He and another runner, Mihno try to make it back before the walls close. Thomas runs out just as the walls are about to close to try to save them, but he fails. He tries to survive the night in the maze with Mihno (Ki Hong Lee), while constantly running from grievers, who try to take his life at any chance. The next day, he and Mihno head out to try to find a way out of the maze, while avoiding the terrible grievers. Follow Thomas and Mihno as they try to find a way out of the maze, save the inhabitants from the grievers and fight dissent.
The filmmakers didn't completely follow the plot of this movie, but it’s not to a point where someone who read the book would be disappointed. Because of graphic content, this film should not be viewed by children under 13. Although, if you like action and adventure, this is the movie for you. The movie, the Maze Runner is based on the book by James Dashner. It’s the first book in a trilogy of three books. See this at in theaters September 19th.
