Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul is here, and it will surely take you on a comical trip you will never forget! Greg Heffley and the rest of his family get a big surprise: they are going on a road trip. Everyone is to bring only the “bare essentials,” due to the lack of space in the minivan and the boat trailer; and even with that, everyone is still cramped up in the car. To make matters worse, they are all supposed to spend “family-bonding” time together, which means boring family games and learning experiences—a total nightmare for Greg. Even before they hit the road, trouble immediately erupts, and it just won’t stop coming for them during the whole trip. Greg and his family get dumped in a pit of bad luck on the journey—everything from a flat tire and getting a frozen pizza stuck in a safe to winning a rampaging pig at a fair.
I’ve read all the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, and The Long Haul is just as hilarious as the others. The author, Jeff Kinney, as always, makes the characters funnier than ever with their absurdly ludicrous insights into the crazy things that happen to kids, and he scatters his zany cartoons throughout the pages! This book is suitable for young people of all ages, whether Wimpy Kid fans or newcomers to Jeff Kinney’s stories.
