NCAR is very hard to spot from the base of the mountain that it sits on, because of its sandy color. NCAR's builder wanted the establishment to blend in to the setting, instead of being a big bulky building on a mountain.

When I went in to NCAR, the building was bustling with scientists from around the world meeting for a special conference. As I walked around NCAR different gadgets & gizmos where everywhere. You would have to see it to believe it!

One peculiar thing there was a tornado making machine. At one end of the machine there was a fan going non-stop, and at the other a vent releasing water vapor. You would be amazed, watching the machine make tornados!

Another of the contraptions was a tank filled with sand. This tank had 4 fans in side. There where also 2 knobs on top of the tank that controlled which way the wind flowed. It was amazing how much wind can effect its surroundings.

Many schools visit this area because of its high learning opportunities. NCAR has six classrooms for teaching and an auditorium for meetings or conferences. My trip to NCAR to learn more about it paid off.

If you would like to learn more about NCAR you can go right there to 1850 Table Mesa Dr , Boulder, or call this number to get a tour: 720-304-8670.
