“Lark Rising” by Sandra Waugh

Lark is a 16- year old girl who lives with her cousin Evie and her grandmother. This fantastical book is the story of how Lark must go on a mission to get help from special people named “The Riders” to save their town from the evil Troths. Troths are the horrendous creatures behind the death of Lark and Evie’s parents. Lark and her special powers must fight to save what is left of her family. her friends, and her village from harm.

While this book may seem like an edge of your seat, amazing, can’t wait to read it kind of book, I struggled to make it through the first 50 pages, let alone the whole story.

It’s not that the plot isn’t interesting; it is just that the story is the exact same as every other fantasy book you’ve ever picked up in the book store.

Overall, I would rate “Lark Rising” two out of five stars, because the excitement is there, it just doesn’t capture you like a good book does. However, if you do decide to read this book, I recommend it for ages 11 and up, due to some ideas and concepts in the book that are strange and unusual.

Overall, I do not recommend “Lark Rising” by Sandra Waugh.
