Demon was a regular Greek boy, until one day his dad shows up. The encounter is unusual. For one thing his dad has goat legs. Also his dad is the Greek nature god, Pan. As if this is not enough to take in, Demon is told by Pan he must go to Mount Olympus.
During the ride up to Olympus, on a rainbow called the Iris express, Pan explains the gods need a new stable boy.
Being the beast keeper of Olympus is not easy. Demon’s first challenge is to clean up all the beast poop. While he doses this, he must endure a multitude of upset beasts, which whine and threaten to eat him. Can Demon survive the stables of Olympus?
This is an easy book to read. The letters are big, and the sentences short. The plot is mildly exciting. This story is loosely based on Greek mythology, but has many new twists and turns. I would recommend Beasts of Olympus by Lucy Coats to young readers. Anyone 7 or up who likes mythology, or just wants a good laugh.
