Killer Instinct is the story of a teen named Cassie Hobbes and the mystery of a series of brutal murders. Cassie Hobbes, a 17 year old girl, has a gift for profiling people. Her profound talent landed her a spot on an elite FBI program where Cassie, Dean, Lia, and Michael, solves cold-case problems for the FBI.
After barely solving and getting out alive in an active case, Cassie hopes that they can stick to solving cold cases. However when series of cold, vicious murders turn up, the crew realizes that the murderer is the perfect copycat of Dean’s bloodthirsty father. Not wanting to go anywhere near the case, but having too, Cassie and the rest of the crew helps out. Playing a game of cat and mouse, the team is forced deeper into the insane psyched mind of the killer. Will they outplay the killer before he twist them into his own web?
Killer Instinct by Jennifer Lynn Barnes is definitely a page-turner. The author kept making you guess of the events in the story and for sure made it more intriguing to read. This book was complex at first to understand because it is a second in the series, but after a few pages, it was easy to comprehend. I would highly recommend this for matured teens and higher because it contained some bloody scenes and tells how the victims died. The author did a fantastic job on moving the story, she wrote most of her chapters on the first point of view from Cassie, but every once in a while she would write a page or two on the narration of the killer. The author wrote a lot about the character in the book of finding hope again, finding strength within yourself, and the sense of duty. Overall, it was an eye- catching, absorbing book that I would certainly read again.
