Today team nine: The Technology Titans, interviewed Molly Hughes, a reporter and researcher for the Denver Post.

Hughes is a brave person, from shaking off her nerves on air to learning how to leave the sad news at the station. Hughes also summarizes some of the longer stories, she says “I take a long story and kind of boil it down to a 30 second story.”

Hughes says that you can accomplish anything and “chase your dreams and figure out what you want to do and go for it.”

Her job is different every day; she says that this is the most exciting part.

She gave good pointers on how to stay calm on air, such as deep breathing, pretend you are at home, and make sure you are reading the prompter slowly.

She gave other inspiring words and we had the privilege of taking photos with her on the set. Hughes is very down to Earth and thinks hard, as you have should be as a news reporter.

The program is working on a “Totally new concept.”. To put what is on air into the papers.

She also said that when you are not on air and you make a mistake, you correct yourself and delete the mistake then patch the video back together, so she doesn’t worry when she is off air.

A news reporter is a good job to consider if you are a good public speaker, and if you have nerves of steel. I would rather be on the other side of the prompter.
