Recently, I visited the Byers-Evans Museum. It was cool and interesting to see what the house was like back then and what the rooms were decorated like, and especially the traditions they had.

The house was built in 1883 and the house cost $30,000 which in today’s world it would probably be several million. The Byers family was rich and bought the house in 1889. It was a huge house with at least 20 rooms so obviously, it was a very big house. They called their house Victoria. William Byers was the founder of the Rocky Mountain News and he had a wife named Cornelia. They had two kids Frank and Mollie. In their little dining room, they had a fireplace with tiles around it that one of the parents would use the tiles to tell a story. Since it was such a big house, the family had a servant. There was a little servant room and in the room there was a little rack to keep their servants close.

John Evans and his wife Margaret bought the house later. John Evans was the co-founder of D.U. This house was interesting to see and experience because there was a lot of old fashion items in there that I learned a lot from. The couple had Anne, Josephine,Margaret and Katherine. They had a kid named Katherine loved tennis and other sports. Margaret Evans was the only kid in her family to get married. Her parents made her a music room because she loved music. As you can see repeating names were a tradition. Anne Evans had a personal living room for her and a bedroom. One of Anne’s hobbies that she did was that she collected Native-American art and then later donated it to the art museum which she also founded. Katherine’s life span was 1894-1977. Back then, it was popular to make jewelry out of hair. John Evan died in 1897 at the age of 82.
I had a fun time exploring the Byers-Evans museum and learning new things. There was at least 20 rooms if not more and it was kind of like a mansion. This would be a fun experience for a kid or an adult to see how life was like back then. I would recommend coming to this place to have a fun and educational experience. This would be a place to stop at.
