Copper Mountain is a perfect place for a winter vacation. If you ski, ride, tube or do anything else, Copper is your place. Copper is home to one of the longest mountain coasters in North America, 2450 skiable acres, a tubing hill, snowshoeing, The Barn, and lots of events.
From the 6th of February to the 9th of February. Copper hosted the 2020 Dew Tour. The Dew Tour is a ski and snowboard trick competition where athletes from around the world compete in 3 disciplines; StreetStyle, SlopeStyle and Modified SuperPipe. This was where a Colorado Kids press pass came in really, really handy. I was able to literally get within feet of the skiers and riders while they were performing their tricks and got some really good pictures.
The Dew Tour isn’t the only exciting event that happens at Copper, though. They have events every week during ski season and a handful over the summer ranging from the Red Bull SlopeSoakers in April (which is “the most creative pond skim you’ll find at any ski resort anywhere in the world”), the Mac and Cheese Fest in July and the Special Olympics Winter Games on the 22nd and 23rd of February.
As soon as you board any of the several chairlifts (or gondola) you will be in for a treat. Just buckle or strap in and you can witness the beauty the Colorado mountains can bring you. Copper Mountain has natural divided terrain, meaning that starting on the western side (West Village) it is mostly greens, the center (Center Village) is mostly blues and the eastern (East Village) side is mostly blacks.
Copper put in a new chairlift (Three Bears) which will enable skiers and riders to get to pristine powder and glades on Tucker Mountain where “the views are almost as sweet as the turns” which until now was only accessible by hiking or snowcat. With that new lift, Copper Mountain now has 24 lifts to access over 2450 acres of 140 marked trails and it is only 75 miles from Denver.
As you can see, Copper Mountain has everything you could possibly want from a ski mountain and more making it the perfect weekend vacation.
